Strukt Portfolio: Graphic Design & Animation

Red Point by Akemi Takeya

Art performance

Animations and real-time visuals for art performance at Klangraum Krems, Minoritenkirche

Red Point is an autoportrait piece by the Japanese artist Akemi Takeya. It premiered at the Klangraum Krems Minoritenkirche at the Kontraste festival on October 10th 2008.

In collaboration with the Viennese electronic band Metalycée and the guest musician Keiko Higuchi from Tokyo, Akemi developed the sound environment where she also performed as a singer. Strukt worked closely with Akemi and the musicians to create the visual part of the performance. The main focus of Strukt’s work was to interpret Akemi’s writings with typographic animations. At the same time these animations functioned also as the translation for the words spoken in Japanese.
Additionally, an animated portrait illustration of Akemi and live footage of Akemi’s hometown Tokyo were built into the visuals. The last part of the visual performance was done in real-time by Strukt.
